Exercise and physical activity are crucial to long-term weight loss success and a healthy lifestyle. As part of our New Life Weight Loss Program, we offer a range of fitness services led by our exercise physiologist. She works with each patient to design a personalized plan based on that individual’s fitness level and health needs. As part of your medical team, your exercise physiologist will assist in the coordination of your personalized care.
Benefits of exercise
Not only does exercise help you lose weight and keep it off, it provides other health benefits such as increased energy, strength, flexibility, balance, and reduced risk for serious medical conditions. Even moderate amounts of activity can have positive effects.
Every patient has unique needs, depending on age, fitness experience, health issues, and mobility. Our exercise physiologist tailors a plan that works specifically for you. She will also explain why exercise is important, how to work smarter not harder, and how to overcome roadblocks to physical activity.
Personal fitness assessment
Our exercise physiologist will conduct this assessment to evaluate your cardiovascular fitness, strength, endurance, flexibility, body weight and fat mass. She will conduct follow-up assessments to measure progress.
Our state-of-the-art measuring analysis equipment collects data that is used by your specialist to devise a more accurate, individualized exercise plan. You will receive:
- Metabolic testing
This simple 10-minute test provides your resting metabolic rate, or RMR. The RMR shows how many calories your body burns each day.
- Body composition testing
Your muscle-fat ratio, BMI (body density), and bone mass help reveal how healthy your body is.
On-site fitness facility
Work with your exercise physiologist using state-of-the-art equipment in our center’s fitness facility. The on-site location is both convenient and offers more privacy than a public gym or fitness center.
Take advantage of our 12-month program that is designed to introduce patients to a variety of activities such as yoga, Zumba, hiking and circuit training. The goal is to help patients become comfortable with fitness, find activities they enjoy and are able to incorporate into their daily lives.
